On Sunday, October 2nd, the CubaNOLA Arts Collective will host Vecinos—Mid-City (A Celebration Between Neighbors) at Comiskey Park in the 600 Block of S. Jeff Davis Parkway. Live local music, sports competitions, children’s activities and free health screenings will enliven the neighborhood all day long.
In its third year—the first year the event has been held in Mid-City—the festival continues to expand with an increasing range of free activities. Traditional games, folklore, and dance will entertain the entire family as live music from salsa to brass bands and bounce plays continuously. Exciting, quick-round soccer tournaments, basketball, and volleyball will give neighbors a chance to play together and enjoy the weather. There will also be soccer clinics for children who don’t want to miss out on the sports fun. Besides connecting families with community resources, the festival will also host health clinics that offer free tests, including cholesterol, eye exams, HIV testing, and more.
Vecinos—Mid-City is a great way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with your neighbors. Presented by the Mexican Consulate in New Orleans as well as LatiNola and the CubaNOLA Arts Collective, the heritage festival will bring the community together to celebrate Latino culture in New Orleans. Bring your family and friends to Comiskey Park on Sunday, October 2nd to join the fun.
This all day family event will bring together Mid-City neighbors to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and all the Latino cultural influences that have shaped New Orleans culture since the city’s very founding in 1718. The festival includes music, dance, folklore, children’s activities, an extensive health and community resource fair, soccer, basketball, volleyball and more.
