Halloween porch tour through Mid-City looking for homes to participate

Born out of the uncertainty of its time, The Mid City Porch Crawl was established during the Katrina recovery in order to rally community spirit and embolden civic pride.  Neighbors banded together and opened their homes to welcome fellow neighbors and highlight the good things Mid City has to offer.  It was so successful and engendered so much good will that Mid-City Neighborhood Organization continued the tradition to this day.

This year we face the uncertainty of Covid-19, but the Porch Crawl will soldier on. MCNO is coordinating a Mid City Halloween Porch Tour to showcase the best, brightest, and/or spookiest decorated homes in our neighborhood!

PLEASE SIGN UP to feature your home’s decorative exterior and/or front porch on our tour map.  The public will be encouraged to view the homes from the safety and distance of their vehicles or as pedestrians on the sidewalk.  What joy we can bring to our friends and families of New Orleans as they, too, get to share in the holiday joy and marvel at the splendor and community spirit Mid City fosters.  The timeframe of this event will span from Friday October 23 to Saturday October 31 and the public will be encouraged to “text to vote” vote on the home they favor the most.  Specific prizes are yet to be determined, but would include MCNO merchandise and gift cards/vouchers to Mid-City businesses. The winner will be announced during the November MCNO general meeting on Monday November 9.

Please sign up by October 15th to be featured on the tour map, use our signup form.
