Sgt. Raven Batiste has announced the NOPD 1st District August Crime Walk. It will be on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at 5:30PM.
It will begin at the corner of Jeff Davis and proceed on Cleveland Avenue to Cortez, left on Cortez to Palmyra, left on Palmyra to Jeff Davis, and left on Jeff Davis to Cleveland. The walk typically lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour. NOPD officers distribute crime prevention literature and are available to speak with residents about their concerns.
Sgt. Sam P. Palumbo, Sr., of the MCSD specifically requested Mid-City as the area for this month’s Crime Walk. There has been a slight increase in residence burglaries and thefts in recent weeks. Sadly some of these were a result of doors being left unsecured. Sgt. Palumbo strongly urges that you check your doors and windows to be certain they are locked and secure, particularly at night.
Please join me and the dedicated officers of the 1st District in this effort to make our neighbors aware of the crime prevention efforts in Mid-City.
See you on the 29th,
Jim Olsen, MCNO Director of Quality of Life and Chair of the MCSD.
