Good News for Mid-City! MCNO worked with Lakeview Civic Improvement Association to submit an application for the State’s Cultural Product District Certification several months ago. The State announced the winners yesterday, and our District is on the list!! The benefits of the designation include historic restoration tax credits and tax-free sales of original art. More details of how this affects you as residents and business-owners will follow.
The boundaries of the approved district are:
- Northern Boundary: City Park, parallel to Interstate-610, between the eastern side of Wisner Blvd and western side of Orleans Avenue, the northern side of Navarre Avenue to the western side of Canal Boulevard;
- Western Boundary: The western side of Canal Boulevard to the southern side of City Park Avenue;
- Southwest Boundary: The western side of Canal Street between City Park Avenue and the northern side of South Bernadotte Street; the western side of Cleveland Avenue between the northern side of South Bernadotte Street and the northern side of North Broad Street;
- Southeast Boundary: The northern side of North Broad Street between the western side of Canal Street and the eastern side of Orleans Avenue, the eastern side of Carrollton Avenue from the eastern side of Orleans Avenue to the eastern side of Wisner Boulevard;
- Northeast Boundary: The eastern side of Orleans Avenue from the northern side of North Broad Street to the eastern side of North Carrollton Avenue;
- Eastern Boundary: The eastern side of Wisner Boulevard, between North Carrollton Avenue and City Park, parallel to Interstate-610.
