Volleyball Courts on the Bayou

The Sewerage and Water Board has recently issued a request for proposals for a lot that is located on Bayou St John.  The Mid-City Volleyball Group (those guys who play volleyball every Saturday on the Bayou, rain or shine) submitted a proposal to develop community sand volleyball courts to further their purpose in providing fun, competitive, athletic activity on the Bayou and the Lafitte Corridor. The Mid-City Volleyball Group also recently received a grant from the NOLA Wise Program to construct the sand courts and necessary infrastructure to hold regular games, tournaments, and youth clinics at the site.
The Mid-City Volleyball Group has collected 444 signatures in support of the development, 310 coming from an online petition and 134 coming from door-to-door outreach of near-by residents who live close to the proposed site.
MCNO Board has voted to support this endeavor and asks for your letters, emails or show of support on JUNE 7th at the Sewerage and Water Board Meeting where the Board will vote on this matter.  We want to show the Sewerage and Water Board that the community is in full support of healthy, and community oriented uses of the Bayou.
