The Lakeview Civic Improvement Association issued a letter of support urging the New Orleans Rail Gateway and Norfolk Southern to convert the Saint Louis Street rail spur of the Back Belt into a “rail with trail” shared-use facility with the Lafitte Greenway.
With support and cooperation from Norfolk Southern, the Lafitte Greenway will extend from Basin Street to Canal Boulevard in Lakeview.
Letter even has a nice jab at the end encouraging Norfolk Southern to remove “abandoned rail infrastructure within the footprint of the Greenway.” Good work Lakeview!
