Jim Taylor

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Jim Taylor, past president of MCNO; a long-time board member; and long-time resident of Mid-City, passed away in his sleep Saturday night. Jim represented everything that is wonderful about Mid-City and New Orleans. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He also loved Mid-City and fought hard for it. Jim, an avid music and art lover, often hosted events at his house for singer/songwriters and would invite people to come and support them.

Although Jim didn’t grow up here, he embraced this city as his own and soaked in all that New Orleans had to offer. His many friends also reflected the unique culture and spirit of the City. We often had conversations about not wanting to live anywhere else; not just New Orleans, but Mid-City.

There will be a notice in the Times-Picayune, but word from Jim’s family is that there will be a visitation at Lake Lawn on Saturday, May 2nd, from noon until 3p.m. There will be a brief memorial service at 3p.m.
