Council-Sponsored Planning Meeting
May 16th, 2006 by Bart EversonThe New Orleans City Council has hired some consultants to help develop reconstruction plans for 50 neighborhoods heavily flooded by Hurricane Katrina [more info]. Each team of consultants will hold at least three community meetings in each planning district. The first planning meeting for Mid-City appears to be set for Saturday May 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Audubon Senior Center – 3425 Audubon Ct.
Personally I’m astonished that a) I’m only learning about this event now, a few days in advance, and b) the meeting is located in Gert Town, and c) there seems to be no information about this meeting even on the nolanrp.com website put together in support of this planning process, and d) that’s election day. But this could be an important meeting, so concerned Mid-City residents are encouraged to attend.

When I went to the link provided, it appears that there are 4 meetings, the first on the 17th, and your area determines which meeting is most relevant for you. But yes, the final meeting is apparently being held on voting day, quite foolishly.
