Walgreen’s

January 15th, 2006 by Jim Taylor

Walgreen’s has apparently purchased the Robert’s property at the corner of Canal and Carrollton. The sale was in the T-P’s real estate transfers on Saturday. This could be a “Super Walgreen’s” or a strip mall with a Walgreen’s anchor. Get ready for a prolonged discussion about design etc.

The parking lot of the old Robert’s is currently home to many workers who sleep in their cars - and use the lot as a toilet and trash bin. There is a big pile of debris in the lot that blows out onto the sidewalks and streets. Fifteen Tulane students helped clean the periphery - including sweeping the sidewalks and cleaning the neutral grounds - of Canal and Carrolton, and that helped tremendously. Thank you, Tulane.

Will Walgreen’s please show a commitment to this important corner and begin cleaning it up?

Regarding your intentions to build a Walgreens on Carrollton Ave. in New Orleans:

Is the proposed site still a plan? It would be so nice to see this area put to use again. It would also employ many people from the area. Thank you for your time reading this.
